Sania Mirza has moved up two spots to 90th in the latest WTA singles rankings issued on Monday.
Out of action owing to a wrist injury, Sania has 740 points . She, however, slipped in the doubles chart and was down to 44th from last week’s 36th with 1875 points.
The family of Sania Mirza have dismissed reports that the venue of marriage between the Indian tennis ace and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik has been shifted out of India, and has clarified that the marriage, as planned, will happen in Hyderabad on Apr 15.

It’s seems like a nice idea, what Tennis Channel is doing, offering vignettes about what different female players have in their purses.
Saturday afternoon the episode was on Sania Mirza from India. Mirza has been known to wear not only earrings but nose rings and she was funny during her episode, finishing off by pulling out a bottle of body spray, spritzing herself and saying all tennis players needed some freshening up.
But there is one problem.
The feature was shot at La Costa, the gorgeous and very recognizable site of a previous Sony Ericcson WTA Tour event that has been defunct for two years.
One supposes that Mirza probably has changed the contents of her purse over the course of those two years. And that she has a new bottle of body spray by now. And that it might be very useful at this week’s women’s tournament at Home Depot Center where the sun can make players and fans very sweaty.
